CREST Science Olympiad

The CREST Science Olympiad (CSO) is an international competitive exam held online for students in Grades KG-10. There will be 2 levels for students of all Grades i.e. KG-10. The exam is an objective-type test that the students need to complete in 60 minutes. For students of Classes KG and 1, the exam will be parent/teacher assisted. The time of the exam will be 45 minutes for KG students.

The exam consists of two sections:

1. Section-1: Practical Science
2. Section-2: Achievers Section

Other Important Information:

a. There are separate question papers for each and every class.

b. The medium of the exam is English.

c. The syllabus of various international boards is followed for the setting of test papers.

d. The online exams are conducted on web-enabled devices like laptop, tablet or desktop with webcam. Mobile devices are not allowed.

e. For students of Grades KG and 1, the parent/teacher can assist the child in guiding through the questions.

f. In case the registration is not through school, the student will have to take exam from home.

The basic requirements for participating in level 1 are listed below:

a. Students can participate in the examination both through school and individually.

b. Candidates studying in grades KG - 10 are eligible to participate in the level 1 examination.

c. Since it is an international Olympiad, students from across the world are eligible to participate in the examination.

How to Participate in Science Olympiad?

Registration of Students through schools: Students from Classes KG - 10 are eligible to take CREST Olympiads. Prospectus containing the registration forms are sent to all schools registered with CREST Olympiads. If your school is not registered with us, then please send an email to info@crestolympiads.com and we will send you the prospectus soon. It is mandatory for schools to return the registration forms to CREST Olympiads, duly filled in and complete in all respects by the due date.

Registration for individual participants: If your school does not conduct Olympiads, then you can register as an individual participant as well. The link for the online registration for individual participants is here.

Syllabus & Exam Pattern for Science Olympiad

The CREST Science Olympiad gives a platform to showcase their talent & examine their skill sets in the field of Science and technology. The exam prepares children for other national & international competitions as well. The CREST Science Olympiad syllabus is categorized into two sections. The international Science Olympiad syllabus for the CSO exam varies from smaller to higher classes with increasing difficulty. All the questions are specially curated by experienced mentors and professionals to test students' scientific skills.

As we read above, the question paper is divided into 2 sections. Each section has a different marking scheme. The marking scheme varies for each question and each class.

a. For KG, the total weightage of the paper is 30 marks.

b. For 1-4, the total weightage of the paper is 45 marks.

c. For 5-10, the total weightage of the paper is 60 marks.

Dates & Fee for Science Olympiad

The exam dates for CREST Science Olympiad (CSO) for the Academic Year 2024-25 are as given below:

Note: The CSO level 2 exam will be held for students in grades KG to 10.

The exam fee is INR 225 for students studying and enrolling from India. For students studying and residing outside of India, the fee is country specific.

How to Prepare for Science Olympiad?

The first step towards CREST Science Olympiad preparation should be thoroughly reading and understanding each and every concept in the syllabus with full clarity. Lack of knowledge and understanding of the topics makes it difficult to understand Science Olympiad questions. The second step toward Science Olympiad preparation must include a detailed timetable or a study plan to organize your studies. Students can also maintain notes in a format or language that is easy for them to revise at the last moment. Also, one of the most important things while preparing for the exam is to practice enough sample papers.

The answer key dates can be checked on the official website. Usually, CREST Science Olympiad answer keys are announced within 1 week time after the last exam date. Students can check the CREST Science Olympiad answer keys dates by visiting the exam schedule page. The answer keys are made available online for students to cross-check their answers and predict their scores before the actual results are declared.

After the CREST Science Olympiad exam is held, the results for the same are generally released within a month time after the last answer key date. The results can be checked on the official website of CREST Olympiads by login in with students' credentials. After login in students can check their results by going to Dashboard -> Performance -> Results -> Select CSO -> Select CSO Level 1 / Level 2 & result page will show up.

5. If I have qualified for the 2nd level of the Science Olympiad exam, am I eligible for any award and certificate based on Level 1?

For Grades where there are 2 levels, the awards are based on ranking in Level 2 only.

6. Is the level 2 Science Olympiad exam syllabus the same as that of level 1?

Level 2 of the CREST Science Olympiad is conducted for grades KG-10. The syllabus for level 2 is the same as that of level 1. The questions asked in the Level 2 exam are of slightly higher difficulty level as compared to Level 1.

7. Is the Science Olympiad hard?

Science Olympiad is often considered to be difficult or hard to attempt by students. However, it is totally opposite.
