    Vowels and Consonants

Vowels and consonants are important components of the English language. They are the building blocks of words. For learning spellings, it's necessary to get introduced to vowels and consonants.

    Basic Rules for Spelling Words

    1. CVC (Consonant-Vowel-Consonant) Words: Words often follow the pattern of one consonant, one vowel and one consonant. For example, BUY - b and y are consonants and u is a vowel.

    2. Silent "e" Rule: When a word ends with an "e," it often makes the vowel before saying its name.

    Examples:

→ kite (silent "e" makes the "i" long)
→ cape (silent "e" makes the "a" long)

    3. Doubling Consonants: When adding a suffix to a word that ends with a single vowel followed by a single consonant, double the final consonant.
