    All the bold words like he, you, we and us are pronouns. 

    Pronouns are the words that replace naming words or nouns. It helps us to avoid the repetition of naming words. Examples of pronouns are he, she, it, they, them, us, his, her, we, etc.

    Pronouns Used in Sentences

    1. Julian was happy because he got a gift.
      In this sentence ‘Julian’ is a naming word and ‘he’ is a pronoun.
    2. Kelly went to her grandparents house.
      Kelly is a naming word and ‘her’ is a pronoun. 
    3. Where are they going?
      In this sentence ‘they’ is a pronoun which is used for multiple people.

    Uses of Pronouns

    ‘I’, ‘we’, ‘you’, ‘me’, ‘us’ used for both male and female
    He’, ‘him’, ‘his’ used for male persons only
    ‘She’, ‘her’, ‘hers’ used for female persons only
    ‘It’ used for an animal, a place or a thing
    ‘They’ and ‘Them’ used for more than one person, animal, place or thing

    Types of Pronouns

    Types of pronouns for class 2 are:

    1. Singular Pronoun

    1. Singular pronouns are used to replace singular naming words also known as nouns.
    2. We use singular pronouns for a specific person, object or animal. 
    3. Singular Pronouns Examples

    Examples:

    → Olivia is riding her bicycleOlivia is a singular naming word and ‘her’ is a singular pronoun. 
    → Can I have a glass of water? ‘I’ is a singular noun and is used because there is only one speaker.

    2. Plural Pronoun

    1. Plural pronouns are used to replace plural naming words or nouns. 
    2. Plural pronouns are used to indicate many people, animals or things. 
    3. Plural Pronouns Examples

    Examples:

    →  Come play with us! ‘Us’ is a plural pronoun and is used in this sentence because more than one person is playing. 
    →  They are going on a road trip. Since many people are going for a road trip, we used the plural pronoun ‘they’

    3. Personal Pronoun

    Personal pronouns are used to identify the speaker, person or thing.
