    Types of Gender

    There are four types of gender. These are:

    1. Feminine

    1. This gender is used for words that refer to females, be it a person or an animal.
    2. When something is described as feminine, it implies that it has a connection to female traits.
    3. Examples of feminine gender are queen, hen, aunt, wife, etc. Let's use feminine words in sentences:

      → My sister plays the piano.
      In the above sentence, the word sister is a feminine word.

      → My mom is a nurse.
      Mom is a feminine word in the above sentence.

    2. Masculine

    1. This gender is used to classify words that refer to males, be it a person or an animal.
    2. When something is described as masculine, it is associated with male characteristics.
    3. Examples of masculine gender are rooster, policeman, husband, groom, etc. Let's use masculine words in sentences:

      → The boy rode his bike to school.
      Here boy is a masculine word.

      He is a talented singer.
      He is a pronoun which is always used with a masculine word.

    1. Common gender is used for words that can refer to both males and females or to people in general.
    2. These words are gender-neutral in their usage.
    3. Examples of common gender are child, parent, teacher, friend etc. Let's use common gender words in sentences:

      Neighbours can be both feminine or masculine. Therefore, it is a common gender.

      → A good leader listens to their team.
      A leader can be either a girl or a boy. Therefore it is a common gender.

    1. Neuter gender is used for nouns or pronouns that represent inanimate objects, animals, or concepts that do not have a specific gender.
    2. Neutral gender is not classified as either a female or a male.
    3. Examples of neuter gender are box, clock, mountain, computer, etc. Let's use neuter gender words in sentences:

      → I am reading this book.
      A book does not have any gender. Thus, it is a neuter gender.

      → I have a question.
      A question does not have any gender. Therefore, it is considered as a neuter gender.
