Rules to Change Singular Words to Plural Words

There are several rules for changing singular words to plural. These are:

Rule 1: The suffix '-s' is added to make singular words plural. For example, tree-trees, lamp-lamps, door-doors, etc.
Rule 2: The suffix ‘-es’ is added to singular words which end in -s, -ss, -ch, -sh and -x to make them plural. For example, brush-brushes, clash-clashes, catch-catches, etc.
Rule 3: The suffix ‘-es’ is added to singular words which end in -o to make them plural. For example, cargo-cargoes, hero-heroes, tomato-tomatoes, etc.
Rule 4: The last letters of singular words with the suffixes -f or -fe is changed to '-ves' to make them plural. For exampl, wolf-wolves, thief-thieves, leaf-leaves.
Rule 5: To make singular words with -y endings plural, change -y to ‘-ies’. For example, country-countries, party-parties, puppy-puppies, etc.
Rule 6: A singular word becomes a plural word by adding a ‘-s’ when its last -y comes right after a vowel. For example, guy-guys, day-days, key-keys, etc.
Rule 7: Some words do not follow any rules mentioned above. The singular and plural forms of these words must therefore be remembered. For example, cactus-cacti, die-dice, man-men, etc.
Rule 8: Some words remain the same whether they are singular or plural. For example, series, swine, sheep, etc.
