    Letter recognition means to have the ability to identify individual letters of the alphabet.

    Importance of Learning Letter Recognition

    1. It helps children recognise and decode words when they begin to read and write.
    2. It helps to combine letters to form a word and express themselves in writing.
    3. It can help in identifying and understanding the names of objects and people around them.
    4. It helps to form and recognise letters and lays the foundation for handwriting.

    What is the Accurate Order to Learn Letters?

    1. Firstly, one should begin by introducing uppercase letters as they are generally simpler and easier for young children to recognise.
    2. Secondly, one should add grouping letters with similar shapes in recognition. For example, introducing letters with straight lines first, followed by those with curved lines.
    3. Thirdly, one should begin with letters that are most frequently used in the English language. For example, common words which can students grab easily.
    4. Lastly, once students are comfortable with uppercase letters, gradually should introduce lowercase letters. Teaching both uppercase and lowercase forms simultaneously for each letter helps to reinforce their connection and students will easily understand it.
