आज की तारीख में climate change या जलवायु परिवर्तन एक वैश्विक चुनौती बन चुकी है और उससे निपटना उतना ही आवश्यक बन चुका है। जहां पृथ्वी का औसत तापमान बढ़ रहा है ,वहीं समुद्र का जलस्तर भी धीरे-धीरे बढ़ता जा रहा है। कारण अनेक हैं- जनसंख्या वृद्धि, शहरीकरण, ग्रीनहाउस गैसें, जंगलों में आग आदि।ऐसे में AIP और CREST ओलंपियाड द्वारा शुरू किया गया INTERNATIONAL GREEN WARRIOR OLYMPIAD (अंतरराष्ट्रीय ग्रीन वॉरियर ओलंपियाड) सच में एक बहुत ही सराहनीय प्रयास है जिससे न सिर्फ विद्यार्थी परंतु शिक्षक गण और विद्यालय प्रबंधन के बीच भी काफी जागरूकता फैलेगी। हम LIONS CALCUTTA (GREATER) VIDYA MANDIR की ओर से आप सब का धन्यवाद करते हैं।
Myself Shastaki Sharkar, HOD of the Social Science Department of Lions Calcutta Greater Vidyamandir. I feel privileged to deliver a few words today on green warrior honors here. Now, this is a great initiative. In what respect? What I feel is that because of world is going for a sustainable developmental future. So we need to know, we need to inculcate the concept of sustainable development goals. And these are already there in the study materials in every subject they're reading. But practically, they should also get some kind of experience where they need to do certain work and should feel about what are the reasons behind saving nature, what are the reasons behind why they should work on conserving nature. So in our school, we do lot of campus in HBW subject, we do lot of activities on medicinal plants, on plantation drive, and not only that, on conservation of nature of all these respects regarding pollution at an alerting rate in urban areas, urban pollution is increasing. And in the recent few decades, we have seen how urban smog is finally creating the closures of the schools for at least a month, we see we have seen the incident of Delhi. And not only that, due to the huge amount of development in the mountainous areas, also we have seen what happened this year. We have two great experiences. One, the one which happened at the Himachal region this time. We have seen how the area got devastated by the incident of the cloud burst, which happened this time, and how global warming is causing all these things, and how is finally affecting global warming and culminating into all these natural disasters. So to create a green future, we need to inculcate these ideas within the students. And they should foster these ideas in the community, because we need to build up a strong community where everyone should feel about scaling nature, where everyone should think about nature.
