Olympiad Exams in Azerbaijan

i) Republican Biology Olympiad - Azerbaijan

The Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan organizes the Republican subject Olympiads in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, History, Geography and Azerbaijani Language and Literature. The Rules for organizing and conducting all Republican Subject Olympiads were published in 2018 by the Ministry of Education.

The Republican subject Olympiads are conducted for the students in grades 9-11 of secondary schools in each academic year.

The Republican subject Olympiads comprise 2 stages: Regional (urban) and Republican. The Republican stage will consist of the semi-finals and the final round.

The top students who properly answered at least 60% of the questions in each subject and grade during the regional (city) stage are given the opportunity to compete in the republican stage semi-final round.

Structure of exam

A committee of academic experts in several Biological Science subjects prepares the questions for all Republican subject Olympiad stages and rounds and they generally correlate with the IBO syllabus.

The regional (city) and the semi-final round of the republican stage exam include questions with a single correct answer. In the final round of the republican stage - multiple-choice questions, comparison/contrast statements, true-false and other task categories are given in the examination.
