    Rules for Gender Nouns

There are certain rules for gender noun. These are:

    Rule 1: Different Pronouns

    1. We use different pronouns for different types of gender noun.
    2. When we want to replace feminine noun we use pronouns like 'she' or 'her'. For example, Emily is my aunt. She lives in New Zealand.
    3. When we replace masculine noun we use pronouns like 'he', 'him' or 'his'. For example, Harry loves to draw. His painting is amazing.
    4. To replace neuter gender noun with pronouns we use 'it'. For example, Don't touch the pan, it is hot.

    Rule 2: Different Occupations

    1. There are different occupation names for different gender noun. For example, a male person who takes orders in a restaurant is called a waiter whereas a female person who takes orders in a restaurant is called a waitress.
    2. For instance, poet (masculine), poetess (feminine), landlord (masculine), landlady (feminine)

    Common Mistakes with Gender Nouns

    1. One frequent mistake made by people is using wrong pronouns for gender nouns. For example, James is a clever boy. She is in my class.' Here 'she' is the wrong pronoun as 'James ' is a boy (masculine). Therefore the correct sentence is 'James' is a boy. He is in my class.'
    2. Many students often use the wrong occupation words for gender noun. For example, 'William loves to write poems. He wants to become a poetess.' is incorrect because 'William' is the name of a boy and 'poetess' is a female individual who writes poems. The correct sentence is 'William loves to write poems. He wants to become a poet.'
